Made with love on a little tidal harbor in Downeast Maine

My love for working with clay began the first moment I touched it on the first day of a local class I attended for adults in spring 2019. I enjoy making your brush holder from start to finish. I handle the clay (wedge) to make it just right for the wheel. Then, after I turn it into a bowl shape, I often adore it for 24 hours until it has become 'leather'' hard. In this stage, I put it back on the wheel and trim it so it looks smoother and nicer and this is when I make the notches for your brush to stay put. Then it takes at least 3 days to air dry before it goes for a ride to a kiln at my beloved teacher's studio - about 8 miles away. It gets put in a kiln and heated to about 1900 degrees and that takes about 3 days. Then we come back to Dyer Bay and get cleaned up and ready for some color. First the bottom gets dipped in wax. Then the whole piece gets painted in glaze. 3 coats of glaze. After that, we all buckle up and take another ride back to the kiln. This time we might be heated to over 2100 degrees and this is where the magic happens. Sometimes I dream at night about what they'll look like when they come out of that kiln. Lastly, we come back to Dyer Bay, have our picture taken and we get posted on here. The next thing we know... we're headed to your house.
